The room was quite, Nicki was starring at Brooke take care of her boyfriend. She couldn't help but look at her like she was crazy. What was SB thinking? He never even mentioned this girl, EVER! Mama Carol kept trying to get Nicki to leave but she wouldn't not even to pee, she was watching them real closely. EVERYTIME she went in to kiss him Nicki stopped her. She didn't know when her feelings for SB came but she knew she had to have him.

Idk who this bitch is or why she's still here but she's gotta go! I waited 3 years for him to want me back and now for some reason today he does! Everybody knows I was his first love, I made one little mistake. But we'll be okay, I know we will. I looked up from SB and see this bitch starring at me. "Niecy? Lemme speak to you in the hallway."

I know this bitch didn't call me Niecy as if she doesn't know my name is Nicki but I'll talk to the hoe and let her know what's mine. When I was walking out Safaree said "don't be long babe" and we both turned around and said "I won't I promise" I looked at her and started the conversation. "Look you know damn well you haven't been with him for a while and if he wasn't in this condition he wouldn't have called you, he lost his memory today and went back a couple of years. Your a hoe from the past and I don't have time so get your shit and bounce."

Nicki was all worked up, 'the nerve of this hoe' she whispered while walking back into the room. Brooklynn walked into the room a few seconds later and grabbed her purse and left. SB just watched her go. "What did you do?" Nicki looked up and smiled because he actually talked to her. He looked really hurt like his heart had been broken. Nicki started to feel sad but she wouldn't let him be taking away, not like this.
"My name is Onika" she said with a smile.
"Nika?, I like that"
"No OOnika, not Nika"
"Well since you don't seem to be going anywhere I'll call you what I want but can you explain why I'm here?"
After an hour both Nic and SB were in tears as she wrapped up what happened to him. He understood he was shot three times but still didn't know who Nicki was. "Okay, but who are you?" Nicki sighed and went into details of the day they met which made her smile. "Faree, please remember me" he said now crying again. "I want you to love me like you use to. Brooklyn must have been a thing in the past but she's not your girlfriend, you don't have one! You just had me, please Faree please" Nicki pleaded as he just starred at her. She couldn't take it she sat in the chair and cried herself to sleep.

Try To Remember
When Nicki heard the beep come from SB's machine she couldn't believe it. As he started to flatline she couldn't breathe and before she knew it she fainted and collapsed to the floor. When she woke up it was quite and she didn't know where she was. She was still half asleep but when she tried to sit up she felt someone pushed her back down. "What the fuck!?" Nicki said. "Onika, watch your mouth you will NOT talk to me that way" Nicki looked down and apologized. "What are we doing here Ma? What happened". Mama Carol took a deep breath and sat on the chair near the bed and stared at the floor.
Finally she told Nicki she fainted Nicki thought it was no big deal so she texted Safaree. "Baby who are you writing?". Nicki blushed then said "SB mom" so Mama Carol took her phone. "What the..." Nicki was cut off by one of her mothers dirty looks. "Listen the reason you fainted is because you were in the room and heard Safaree's machine going off, u saw him flatline and panicked." Nicki blinked repeatedly as she started to remember then she started to cry and breath heavy. "Onika listen to me I'm not done." Nicki looked up giving her permission to continue. "Well they were able to bring him ba....." before she could finish Nicki ran into his room. She saw him sleeping and she kissed his lips. He opened his eyes and pushed her away. Since she was so weak she fell to the floor. "WTF is wrong with you?" He yelled at her and she just stared at him looking scared. Her mother walked into the room and helped her up. "That's why you should've listened, he doesn't remember us." Nickis eyes shot open as she ran to his side. He starred at her then looked away. He took out his phone and called someone while Nicki watched him closely. "Hello?"
"Yeah babe"
"Jamaica Hospital Medical Center"
"Hurry, love you"
Nicki could only hear his side of the conversation so she figured it was his mother. "Can you leave?" He asked as he turned over to get more comfortable. Nicki couldn't believe it, 'will he ever love me again?' She thought to herself. Her mother saw the worried look on her face and rubbed her back for about 5 minutes. "Baby it'll be okay". Nicki pulled herself together and walked over to SB and looked into his eyes. He started to stare back but looked away. "Why won't you remember me?" She asked him quietly as tears came down her face. "I need you to remember." SB just looked at her but soon looked down then her focus was on the door and she had a stank look on her face.

Who this trick think she is walking in here with a fucking smile on her face? I'll fuck her up! I asked her who she was and she said "Brooklynn, with two n's". This conceited bitch! Before I could speak SB turned around with a huge smile. "What the fuck is going on" I yelled causing everyone to look at me.

I Can Only Be Me Around You (PT 2)
Nicki couldn't see, she could bearly hear. She was so scared. So many thoughts came through her head she blamed her self for SB getting shot. She couldn't live with out him. It wouldn't be the same.
(Nickis POV)
I can't see, I can only hear people around me. But they sound so far away. I wanna be with Safaree. I love him. Wait, why am I moving? What's going on?

"Hi I'm looking for Safaree Samuels" Mama Carol asked the nurse at the front desk of Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
"Sure Mam' room 216, second floor". Mama Carol went straight to the elevators. She went to the second floor and to the left. She realized the numbers on the doors were too high so she started to turn around. Then she heard a Walkie-Talkie. She didn't pay much attention until she heard her daughters name. "Code red, code red! Onika Maraj room 218." Everything was moving too fast, she didn't know what to do. Alot of doctors and nurses rushing into the room and as she tried to go in they immediately pushed her out. She went next door to Safaree's room. She couldn't help but cry.
(Mama Carols POV)
Why them? What went wrong? Why didn't I know Nicki was checked in too? My babies! I can't believe this. There's nothing I can do. She began to cry hysterically and pray.

Mama Carols sobs were interrupted by Safaree coughing. He looked at her, he tried to talk but nothing came out. He looked down and remembered he got shot. He knew him and Chris weren't cool. But shooting him? That was over the line and he wanted pay back. SB started looking around as tears came out of his eyes. Mama Carol noticed and stood up. "She's here baby, don't worry" she said passing him water. 'Who is she talking about' he thought to himself. He just looked at her confused then she realized he didn't know what she was talking about. After drinking the water he spoke because his throat was no longer dry. "Who are you?" he asked. She knew this would be a long night, how could she explain to ger daughter that the love of her life lost his memory and wouldnt remember her at all?

I Can Only Be Me Around You (PT1)
Nicki sat there dazed with tears filling her eyes just holding his hand. She kept talking to him but he didn't answer. She was beyond scared. She decided she'd tell him how she felt since he couldn't hear her, so she thought.
(Nickis POV)
I hated seeing him like that, who would do this to him? The man I love is here laying on this bed and I can't do anything to help him. Wait......I love safaree?
*Flashback- 2 hours earlier*
(No POV)
"Please stop drinking?" He asked her nicely but she wouldn't. She just wouldn't. SB stormed out of her house, he didn't want to be bothered with her. His phone vibrated once he hit his car.
My baby - i'on know why your being dramatic! Come back inside and drink with me :)
He shook his head and drove off. He had no specific place in mind, just far away from her.
(SB POV)
Why can't she just listen to me? WTF? She makes everything so complicated.
My Future - I Love You

By this time what SB didn't know she was already really drunk, what she texted back really hurt so he called his close friend Michael. He knew Nicki didn't like him with Michael because he was a drug dealer but he didn't like her drinking. Safaree hated drugs, he'd never do them or sell them, especially knowing what they did to her family! He wanted her to be mad, not kill him she was small but crazy and everybody knew it. Nicki was young, she was 17 and SB was 18, being older meant nothing to him she was his queen.
Nicki kept calling SB and leaving voicemails. SB had to drive because Michael was feeling dizzy. SB stopped at a red light and read one of his many text messages from Nicki. ' I hate you ' . That burned a whole in his heart he couldn't believe it. SB was so into his thoughts that when him and Michael got out of the car he didn't notice the car pull up beside them. He was calling and calling Nicki. When she answered she could only hear 3 loud bangs.
*end of flashback*
As she sat there in the hospital beside an unconscious Safaree she kept hearing the gun shots. "I love you Safaree, I need you to wake up and be okay....if I wouldn't have been drinking you wouldn't have left, I'm so sorry! Who did this to you? Answer me!" She yelled getting mad, not because he didn't answer but because he couldn't. Then the machine started to beep then everything turned black.....

We Can't Be Friends
SB wouldn't give up, he wouldn't take no for an answer. Nicki liked that, she wanted to be with him but she wasn't ready. 'If he likes me as much as he says then he'll wait' she thought to herself. For a week now he's been sending her flowers and other little gifts but he hasn't been coming around. She really started to miss him so she decided to text him and when 'my baby' came across his screen he knew his plan worked.
My Baby - 'when am I gonna see you Faraee?'
My Future - 'whenever we go on that date'
She rolled her eyes at the last message before responding. She thought they could go to the movies and nothing happen, I mean they were bestfriends right?
Around 5 the next day SB showed up to her house and of course she wasn't ready. He wanted her to just put on some jeans, a t-shirt and some sneakers because he was getting tired of waiting. "Mama I don't wanna wait anymore to call her mine" SB said to Mama Carol who has grown to love him over these past months. "I don't want you to wait either son but Onika is stubborn, you can't force her" as soon as she finished her sentence she knew he hadn't been listening because his eyes were glued to Nicki at the top of the steps. She smiled showing her dimple, "Faraee carry me down? I don't wanna fall" she said whining, so he went to the top and scooped her up. He loved moments like this even though she thought of it as bestfriend things, he had to change her mind and quick, he couldn't be her friend so his plan was in effect. They said bye to Mama Carol and he carried her out to the car.

After a few more drinks SB decided to go home to his apartment in Brooklyn. He never went to clubs in Brooklyn, he felt it was too close to home and he liked new things. Nicki was definitely new to him. He couldn't get her off his mind. From her dimples to the scent of his perfume. He had been in love only one time before but not even she made him feel like this.

A week later after meeting Nicki decided to go to the same club and hoped to see her again. Sadly her friends couldn't convince her to go out that day. I talked to them for a while trying to get to know move about her. I really needed to talk to her. Her friends seemed so different from her, they were loud and outspoken but not Nicki, she was quiet and had mystery to her. He liked that. When he finally got her number he wasted no time texting her.

Me and my lampchop we're watching Judge Judy when I got a text but I didn't know who it was. You would think it's the first thing somebody would say. The message said, ' I don't date guys I meet at bars '. She was really confused she figured it was the wrong number but about 30 minutes later she got another text from that number saying 'Slow Jams by Usher' then she thought back to the club and smiled. She finally answered 'Tell my friends I'm gonna kill them'.

Weeks have past and they became closer. SB thought it was time to finally make his move. "Nic let's go to the movies." She gave him a confused look. "Faree what's wrong with this movie? Now shh! Pay attention!" He got up and went to the bathroom, he was tired of her playing games. They have been friends for two months but he wanted more, he need more. Nicki knew she started having feelings for him but she didn't want to admit it. Nicki was stubborn and she was not about to let him change that. Mama Carol has been telling her to give it a try. Aside from SB her mother was her bestfriend but she didn't think her mom was right. She didn't wanna ruin the friendship they built.
When SB came back from the bathroom he stood at the door watching her think, he knew something was on her mind but he didn't wanna push it. "What you lookin at?" She asked pulling him out of his own day dream. He whispered 'the girl that should be mine' as he sat down next to her and finished watching the show. When I First Saw You
* 3 Years Earlier *
Nicki and her 3 close friends were out partying. They didn't have a care in the world. Nicki was more focused on her school work and would bearly go out so they really had to force her. It was a Friday night and she usually stayed home to watch her little brother but she got out of it. They went to Club Tobago in queens. They got there around 9 and as soon as they walked in they went to the bar. Nicki just sat down and ordered a water.
"Water Nic really? Have fun tonight" Nicki just looked away and watched the dance floor. She didn't realize she was being watched.
Across the room a guy a little older than her was falling in love with her smile. He finally walked over to her.
"Hi what's your name?" He asked nicely. She looked at him and laughed. Her friends looked at her shocked. "What the hell is wrong with her" they all thought while they exchanged looks.
"Well my name is Safaree" he continued while she laughed. "Your really beautiful and your laugh is too" then he smiled. When she saw his smile she got serious. She liked it but she didn't tell him that. "Thank you" she said turning in her chair then she saw all her friends give her the serious face. She was going to go find him but when she turned around he was still there, this made her smile. "Hi my name is Onika, Safaree". He liked how she said his name, he was speechless. He just looked at her. She was starring into his eyes. "Can we dance?" He asked when a slow song came on. They danced until her feet hurt then she went back to her seat and he followed. "I had a really nice time" he smiled, "but...." He looked up surprised. ' but what?' He thought to himself. "But I don't date guys I meet at clubs" Then she got up and walked out as her friends shook their heads and walked behind her. "Damn this isn't going to be easy, but I'll work for it" he thought to himself as he ordered a drink.
